Celebrating women on Everest
What’s better than combining two things I’m incredibly passionate about—telling inspiring stories and exploring the mountains? I’m thrilled to share two exciting projects for 2025 that celebrate the incredible achievements of women in mountaineering and mark an extraordinary milestone in the history of Mount Everest.
‘First Females’ Podcast
In 1975, Junko Tabei became the first woman to stand on the summit of Mount Everest. Her achievement was groundbreaking, not just for women in adventure but for women everywhere. Yet, how many people know her name?
Over the past 50 years, more than 900 women from all over the world have followed in her footsteps, and many of these trailblazers have been the first from their countries to do so.
This is where First Females, a special podcast launching in 2025, comes in. I’ll be sharing the stories of these incredible women—how they faced cultural, physical, and personal challenges to reach the highest point on earth. The podcast isn’t just about climbing mountains; it’s about celebrating resilience, courage, and legacy.
As a storyteller, I’m deeply motivated to make sure these women’s achievements are as widely recognised as their male counterparts. My hope is that First Females inspires future generations of women to dream big, climb higher, and break barriers in their own lives.
Yala Peak Expedition
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Junko Tabei’s Everest summit, I’ll also be embarking on a special trip to Nepal together with fellow Everest summiteer Jo Bradshaw, Adventurous Ewe and a group of incredible women. This isn’t just any trip—it’s an all-female Yala Peak trek, a celebration of women in adventure and a chance to walk in the footsteps of Junko Tabei. This trek will take us into the heart of Nepal’s Langtang Valley, where we’ll share stories and reflect on how far we’ve come since Tabei’s ascent. It’s not just about climbing a peak; it’s about honouring the trailblazers who made this path possible and inspiring others to keep pushing the limits.
Join Me on This Journey
I’ll be sharing more updates throughout 2025, both about First Females and the Yala Peak expedition. Whether you’re tuning into the podcast or simply following the adventure, I hope these stories inspire you to find your own mountain to climb—literal or metaphorical.
Adventure is everywhere, whether you’re camping close to home or trekking in Nepal. I can’t wait to celebrate these remarkable women with you.
