Girl Guiding Cityscapes 2026
Adventure is at the heart of Girlguiding and last month Girlguiding Cymru welcomed over 2,300 girls and leaders to Cardiff for the first ever ‘Cityscapes’ event, that turned the city into a vibrant playground of discovery.
Taking place simultaneously across five UK cities (Cardiff, Glasgow, York, Manchester, Portsmouth), this was an urban scavenger hunt in which girls and leaders were challenged to complete missions, find famous landmarks, learn something new and have fun with other members of Girlguiding.
From Cardiff Bay to Cardiff Castle girls took on challenges in sports, science, arts & crafts. We even managed to climb the height of Everest on a climbing wall outside the Red Dragon Centre.
In my role as President of Girlguiding Cymru, my daughter and I took on the challenge with 3rd Radyr Brownies, and they were nothing short of incredible.
Having lived in Cardiff for 14 years, I felt a real sense of pride seeing the city come to life in this way. Events like this don’t just create unforgettable experiences for young people, they also showcase the energy, culture, and opportunity our cities have to offer.
It was brilliant to see how active travel was woven throughout, with participants exploring the city on foot to connect with the places and spaces around them.
What stood out most was the power of collaboration. This event was made possible by the dedication of Girlguiding volunteers and the support of local partners and organisations across Cardiff. Together, they created something truly dynamic, visible, and impactful for girls and young women.
Llongyfarchaidau a ddiolch yn fawr i chi gyd.
Congratulations and thank you to you all.
